Rebecca Ince has been appointed Managing Director of Hiscox Miami, as part of a planned expansion of its existing Miami operation. Currently an important source of kidnap and ransom and terrorism business for Hiscox, Rebecca’s remit will be to grow the existing Miami team of eight to around 20 in the next two years, initially adding fine art and liability products to the existing book.
“Our Miami office is the gateway to Latin America, and so it makes sense that we not only build our existing kidnap and ransom and terrorism offering, but also offer other lines of business, such as fine art, that are becoming more and more relevant for Latin America,” says Rob Davies, Global Head of Kidnap and Ransom insurance for Hiscox. “Rebecca Ince is a perfect fit for this role given her existing knowledge of our business, combined with her skill, enthusiasm and willingness to take on new challenges.”
Gateway for Latin America
Rebecca joined Hiscox in 2000, rising through the ranks to become Finance Director for Hiscox Guernsey, Global Kidnap and Ransom, and Hiscox ASM. Commenting on her new role, Rebecca says: “Miami, has a strong Latin American feel, is the premier access point for Latin American business. We intend to produce or underwrite business for the Hiscox Group in all classes of business where there is Latin American appetite; using our proximity to the territory and the contacts and knowledge we have in the region.”
The appeal of building the business is evident, but there are also other compensations to starting her new role early in 2014, comments Rebecca. “I move in January which means that I can enjoy Christmas here but escape the cold, dark and depressing months of January and February in the UK. I’ll also be working hard to brush up my Spanish.”
